We are excited to attend and participate in this year’s ABU General Assembly, where numerous meetings and great presentations are set to take place. TRT is the host of this year’s annual assembly, which will start on 24th October and close on 31st October 2015. Taking place at the Hilton Istanbul Bosphorus Hotel and Conference Center, this will be an opportunity to look not only at content, technology, providing news and current affairs, sport and entertainment, but the role of media as a game-changer in education, health, disaster preparedness and nation-building.

What does ABU stand for?

ABU is the largest and most complex broadcasting unions in the world. It meets once a year in ordinary session and is preceded by a series of the associated meetings of the Sports Group, Technical and Programme Committees, Administrative Council and special seminars.

• As the largest broadcasting union, they serve through our more than 275 members in 68 countries or 60 % of the world’s population.
• Established in 1964 as a non-profit, non-government, professional association to assist the development of broadcasting in the region, the ABU promotes the collective interests of television and radio broadcasters and encourages regional and international co-operation between broadcasters.
• ABU runs a wide range of activities, including the daily Asiavision satellite TV news exchange, co-production and program exchanges and technical, programming, legal and management consultancy services, as well as industry conferences and international frequency planning and coordination.
